Benue State has been hit by another wave of violence, as suspected Fulani militants launched separate attacks in Logo and Gwer West local government areas, leaving at least four people dead and destroying valuable farmland.
In the latest incident, which local sources have described as a continuation of “ethno-religious cleansing,” the assailants targeted communities, burning houses and destroying a rice farm in Gwer West.
The attacks have further heightened tensions in the state, where farmers and residents have repeatedly called for increased security presence to protect them from frequent invasions.
According to eyewitnesses, the militants operated for hours without any intervention from security forces, raising questions about the effectiveness of the government’s security measures in the region.
The Benue State government has yet to issue an official statement regarding these latest attacks, but community leaders are urging both state and federal authorities to take immediate action to prevent further bloodshed and destruction.
